Luminous Intensity Measurement
Luminous flux emitted in a particular direction is known as luminous intensity and is measured in candela (cd = lm/sr). Luminous intensity is commonly used in defining the efficiency and specifications of lighting equipment such as LEDs and flashlights.
Candlepower is measured using detectors with a defined field of view under point source conditions where the light source to detector distance is at least five times greater than the largest source dimension.
Effective intensity is commonly used when measuring pulsed (flashing) light sources. A possible method to calculate the effective intensity pused light is the Schmidt-Clausen method.
