Light Transmission Measurement

Light Transmittance is an important specification for float glass and windows (glazings). The measurement method is similar to that of the total energy throughput as described in DIN 67507.

ECE R43 defines values and measurement methods for light transmission for automotive glass to ensure visibility and safety.

Plastic films are used in composite glass used in the transportation industries and in displays. For quality control the light transmittance and its diffuse component (haze) is typically measured.

The transmittance of solar cell cover glass is an important factor in the efficiency of solar cells. Thin film solar cells with metallic coating applied requires production control of the metal coating spattering process.
