Light Pulse Measurement

  • The Pulse Energy of a single flash is measured through integration of the light signal within a defined time window. Pulse energy relates to the integral below the pulse profile.
    The Pulse Profile of single flashes or pulse sequences is measured through recording (data logging) of the temporal intensity profile. It enables the determination of peak intensity, pulse length, pulse frequency and calculated pulse energy.
    Effective Luminous Intensity is a measure of the energy in a flashing light related to conspicuity. This is different than the peak pulse value.
    Effective Luminous Intensity Distribution measurement is specified in EN 54-23 for optical signal devices in fire and smoke detection installations. The measurement is done with photogoniometric measurement device.
