Industrial standards define the ratio of the UV A-irradiance necessary for fluorescence stimulation to the maximally allowed environmental light (white light). LEDs are used for fluorescence stimulation in NDT applications through blue light. Irradiance output is measured to ensure proper levels of exposure are maintained. UV and Blue light sources used in NDT applications fall into the guidelines for product classification of lamps and lamp systems. They must also checked for health hazard risk in the workplace.
