External light sources with variable and or step attenuators are used in the set-up of Integrating Sphere Sources (ISS) with high resolution controllable luminance or radiance. Variable apertures and hole pattern attenuators allow color temperature stable intensity control. The LS-OK30 series is a modular based system to build light sources with manual or remote control of the flux into the integrating sphere.

The LS-OK30 light source can be set-up with halogen lamps in the power range from 5 to 100W with UV transmitting bulb and G4 socket. The lamp base is air flow cooled by two fans for temperature stabilized operation. The reflector made with diffuse reflecting synthetic ODM98 coating increases the efficiency and direction of the flux into the integrating sphere. The source housing offers a mechanical interface to mount the source directly to the UMPF-LSOK30 port frame or combine it with the available LS-OK30 accessories. Lamp operation in constant current mode is recommended for best stable flux operation.

The LS-OK30-VA has a controllable two blade aperture with high resolution drive for manual operation. It mounts between the LS-OK30 light source and UMPF-LSOK30 port frame and can be combined with one or more LS-OK30-FH filter holders.

The LS-OK30-FH filter housing for the manually exchangeable LS-OK30-FHI filter holder mounts between the LS-OK30 light source and UMPF-LSOK30 port frame and can be combined with one or more LS-OK30-FH and or LS-OK30-VA. Gigahertz-Optik recommends using hole pattern attenuators to avoid color temperature change.

The LS-OK30-VAM-RS232 has a controllable two blade aperture with high resolution stepping motor drive for remote control operation. It mounts between the LS-OK30 light source and UMPF-LSOK30 port frame and can be combined with one or more LS-OK30-FH filter holder.

The FW-170-2x6x2-RS232 offers two individually operated filter wheels with stepping motor drive for the remote controlled exchange of up to 6 filters (2 inch diameter) per wheel. Integrated two blade variable aperture with stepping motor drive. An alternative to the FW-170-2x6-2-RS232 version the model FW-170-2x6x2-RS485 with RS232 interface is available.
