Modular light detectors are designed for stand alone use or can be combined with optics and mechanical components to form complete light detector assemblies for a particular application. They offer a mechanical interface which allows accessory components such as optical filters, integrating spheres, diffuser windows and other front-end optics to be easily attached and interchanged.
The PD-93 modular detectors feature photodiodes with a one square centimeter circular active area. The area around the light sensitive 11.28mm diameter active area is metal shielded thus insensitive to light so that irradiance (W/cm²) can easily be calculated from a known radiant power (W) assuming the active area is evenly overfilled. The photodiode is assembled into a rugged black andodized aluminum housing with threaded M6 and 1/4-20 side holes for mounting into the test set-up . The front of the housing is internally threaded (common 1.3/16-24-UNS thread size) to accept a wide range of stock accessory components including front lens barrels, optical bandpass filters, diffuser windows, LED intensity barrels and integrating spheres. Two different photodiode types are stocked. The detectors are equipped with a BNC connector (female) located on the rear of the detector housing and a 2m long coaxial cable with selectable -1, -2 or -4 type connector for use with Gigahertz-Optik’s range of optometers. Optional calibration of the detector or detector set-up are offered by Gigahertz-Optik’s Calibration Laboratory for Optical Radiation Quantities.
