UMPF Series Port Frames
for UMBB, UMSB und UMBK Integrating Spheres

UMPF Port Frames are used to both close the integrating sphere port and to enable assembly of accessories onto the sphere. Port frames are permanently fixed onto the sphere port hole at a specified position based on the application. A wide selection of standard sizes are offered with diameters from 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) up to 10 inches (254 mm). The model number of the port frame includes the free aperture diameter in inches. The free aperture designation also indicates those port frame components that fit onto that particular port frame, e.g. UMPF-0.5 Port Frame with UMPP-0.5 Port Plug, UMPR-0.5 Port Reducer and UMPA-0.5 Port Adapter.

The UMPF series port frames have a machined V-groove around the frame’s circumference allowing mounting of port frame accessories, e.g. port plugs, port reducers and port adapters. These components assemble onto the frame by means of three or more set screws that seat in the port-frame V-groove. The UMPF port frames are not designed to handle heavy loads or high torque. For heavier components for longer size parts that could create high torque on the port frame the UMPF-HL series should be used. The UMPF-SH series frames provide threaded studs up front for tool less assembly of port accessories. The studs also simplify insertion, removal and positioning of components in the inside the sphere. UMPF-SH port frames are designed for heavy load use.
