UMBB Series Base Integrating Spheres
USBB Series Base Integrating Spheres
UMBB and USBB integrating spheres form the basis for the set-up of a modular integrating sphere. They are built with two identical hemispheres formed by aluminum plates in a spun aluminum process. Gigahertz-Optik stocks these hemispheres in semi-finished form with the outer surface painted in Gigahertz-Optik’s RAL 3004 color. The UM type hemispheres have a flange on each hemisphere formed in the spun aluminum process. The flange is used to join the two hemispheres forming the sphere and to mount adapters such as the UMSS-SMT stand or for integration of the sphere into other systems.
The US type hemispheres are manufactured without a flange producing a small gap when the two hemispheres are mated together. An external auxiliary frame is required in order to merge the two hemispheres into a sphere. This auxiliary frame can be designed as a hinged frame (HF) which allows the opening and closing of one of the hemispheres for insertion and removal of test devices inside the sphere. Gigahertz-Offers the UM and US series from 100mm to 1000mm diameter. Spheres up to 300mm diameter can be configured with a simple threaded socket for assembly onto a post mount. Spheres from 100 to 1000mm diameter are supplied with bench-top or floor stands. Hinge frame stands are available for spheres from 300 to 1000mm.
One or more standard size holes (ports) for port frames can be punched on the sphere or custom size and shape holes can be made by machining. Once the port frames are assembled the inner surface of the integrating sphere is coated with a barium sulfate preparation processed under the Gigahertz-Optik GmbH product name ODP97.
