PD-9311 and PD-9312 Averaged LED Intensity Adapter

One of the parameters commonly used to specify LEDs is directional output intensity in Candela. Since most LEDs do not actually fit the definition of a spot source the publication CIE 127 specifies the term Averaged LED Intensity for measurement of the directional flux of LEDs. CIE 127 also specified two measurement geometries for the measurement of the averaged LED intensity. The set-up defines a circular detection area having 100 mm² (11.3 mm diameter) and the measurement distances between the test samples and detector. The distance between the front tip of the LED and the plane of the entrance aperture of the detector is stated at d = 316 mm for CIE standard condition A and d = 100 mm for standard condition B. This corresponds to solid angles of view of 0.001 sr for Condition A and 0.01 sr for Condition B. Gigahertz-Optik offers the PD-9311 and PD-9312 front tubes which can be attached to the PD-9304 detector with PD-93VL photometric filter for CIE Condition A and B conformal measurements. Calibration of the average LED Intensity sensitivity in cd and W/sr is offered by Gigahertz-Optics calibration laboratory.
