BTS256-LED
LED-tester for Luminous Flux Meassurement
of LED- and Compact Fluorescence Lamps
The BTS256-LED tester is designed to accurately and simply measure the total flux and relevant luminous color data of single assembled and unassembled LEDs in manufacturing, quality control, field service and binning or sorting processes. In many applications single LEDs are mounted into LED matrixes, arrays or integrated into luminaires, light bulbs or spot lamps for general lighting. Here the size of the LED arrays, luminaires and lamps are too big to measure luminous flux with the BTS256-LED tester alone. For these measurement the BTS256-LED tester can be combined with an add-on integrating sphere. Gigahertz-Optik offers a range of integrating spheres with sphere diameters from 210mm up to 1000mm. Four kinds of spheres are available:
- Integrating spheres (2π) for spot lamps only for measurement at a port with diameter up to 127mm
- Integrating spheres (4π) for bulb type lamps which open/close to measure the test source inside the sphere
- All-purpose integrating spheres for bulb (4π) and spot (2π) lamps with port diameter up to 254mm
- Integrating sphere for operation of the test lamp in three different orientations (upright, downward, horizontal) in the sphere center plus extra measurement port for spot lamps
The BTS256-LED tester attaches to the integrating sphere by its bayonet type adapter. This offers the flexibility to use the device by itself or combined with other accessory parts depending on the application. All integrating spheres are supplied with auxiliary lamps for the compensation of the self-absorption of the test samples (substitution error correction). The auxiliary lamps can be manually operated with commercially available power supplies or in remote control operation with Gigahertz-Optik’s BTS256-LED-ALP power supply. Either way the substitution error correction routine is supported by the software supplied with the BTS256-LED tester. The software also supports luminous flux measurement with the add-on sphere and all relevant luminous color data. The BTS256-LED tester bi-technology sensor including a photometric photodiode and diode array spectrometer ensure accurate measurement values independent of the light source emission spectrum. Calibration of the BTS256-LED tester with the add-on sphere is performed in Gigahertz-Optik’s calibration laboratory for light measurement quantities against calibration standards traceable to national and international metrology laboratories. Re-calibration is recommended every 12 months. For in-house re-calibration by the end user Gigahertz-Optik offers spectral flux standard lamps. The re-calibration procedure is supported in in the supplied software.
